There is no shortage of Internet sites or publications promoting Chula Vista’s kid-friendly attractions and family-oriented businesses. But as a new mom, Jennifer Humora quickly discovered that most were not comprehensive, meaning if a company had not paid to be an advertiser, they were usually excluded from the various lists, events calendars and blogs she viewed. Jennifer’s vision for the Mom’s Guide was to be inclusive and create a true resource for parents and a place where local businesses could promote themselves to the mommy market. The Mom’s Guide to Chula Vista lists every company that offers services in a select set of family-friendly business categories.

Jennifer also does Mom’s Guides in other San Diego County areas. In 2008 The Mom’s Guide was created as a printed resource book and mailed to the 3,000 members of one of my favorite organizations, the Scripps Parent Connection. While the hard copy guide is still published annually and mailed to Parent Connection families, it also made sense to put a lot of the resource information online. ChulaVistaMom.com offers the most up-to-date information about restaurants where kids eat free, fun family events and promotions.
Many businesses realize that one of the best ways to get you to sample their product or service is to offer a discount or a freebie. There are great coupons to be found on the mom’s guide online and even more to be had in the annual print version, which is something of a cross between an entertainment book, parenting magazine and business directory. If you’d like to join the mom’s guide mailing list and receive a free guide each January, please fill out the form below. And if you are visiting this site and know of a company that is missing from its category, please send a comment to let us know or list your own business by clicking here.
