Mariana has been a Public School Teacher for 29 years: Eastlake High School (2000-present); Central Elementary SDUSD (1995-2000)
At Eastlake High School she has taught English since 2000. Her three children attended area elementary schools (Marshall and Olympic View) and they graduated from Eastlake High School.
She was the first Chairwoman for Eastlake Alumni and Friends Association (2019-2023) and serves on the Live Like Micah Foundation, Board Member (2023-present)

Mariana also serves the community through the LLM Foundation where she hosts an annual collection of clothing to benefit local women and family shelters (since 2016). She has also led service projects with students to benefit many local agencies over the years: Rady Children’s Hospital, Good Will of San Diego, Lions Club of Chula Vista, and collection drives to support many communities in crisis: 9/11 First Responders Letter Campaign, US Peleliu Naval Ship Holiday Letter Writing Campaign, Santana High School Shooting, Oklahoma Tornado Victims, San Bernadino Shooting, Thousand Acres Shooting and many others. I also organized the EHS “Walk Against Hate” team for the Anti-Defamation League’s anti-bullying/anti-hate speech walk in 2019.
