The 2025 EASTLAKE ALUMNI & FRIENDS Eastlake Grown Scholarship Recipients Announced
“We were so proud to launch the inaugural year of the Eastlake Alumni & Friends scholarships. The students who won were from a very competitive pool of amazing Titans! The four winners were thrilled to be a part of the strong legacy of Titan pride!” stated Mariana Hughes, Scholarship Committee Co-Chair.
“It is a beautiful moment that we can give back to our fellow Alumni and recognize the hard work that they put in!” shared Alumni & Friends Chairwoman, Vanessa Brinkman. “Our Committee Chairs Mariana Hughes and Gloria McKearney were instrumental in not only organizing and facilitating the process but really honing in on defining what it means to be Eastlake Grown.”
This scholarship would not have been possible without the support from the Eastlake Educational Foundation. Janet Francis, Executive Director of the Eastlake Educational Foundation, shares “the Eastlake Educational Foundation is delighted to support the educational endeavors of students through the new Eastlake Alumni & Friends Scholarship Program. I have no doubt that this program will grow and flourish in the years to come.”
The Gloria McKearney Award for Excellence in Academics: Hugh Juden
With an impressive 4.88 GPA and Co-Valedictorian for the Class of 2025, Hugh came home to Eastlake after transferring from Otay Ranch. He wanted to come to Eastlake because he knew he would find an amazing community that would support him and help him achieve his goals. Hugh is a certified College Board Tutor in “AP Calculus, AP Physics, and the math portion of the SAT.” His academic achievements are more impressive as he was also the captain of the water polo and swim teams.
The Stan Canaris Award for Excellence in Activities: Alyssa Valladolid
Alyssa is active in the Eastlake community. She is LINK leader, a member of the Kind Hearts Club, Titan Buddies, Dark Room Society, a Cross Age Tutor, Military Student Community Club, Beach Volleyball team manager and Senior Class Vice President. She enjoys working with her fellow Titans to ensure that everyone finds a place.
The EAF Award for Excellence in Athletics: Sabrina Jonason
Sabrina is a four-sport varsity athlete and captain of the field hockey team. Her passion is soccer, but found that she is really a great field hockey player. Joining the field hockey team as a freshman set her on the trajectory of competing in every single season during her high school career. She has lettered in four sports (field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, track and field) and loves to contribute to every team she joins.
The EAF Award for Excellence in Arts: Carolina Rodriguez
Carolina has been a rockstar in the Eastlake dance world for four years! Not only competing on the award winning Eastlake Dance Company and Eastlake All-Female but also holding cabinet positions for both teams, Carolina has received numerous accolades. Carolina believes “Dance isn’t just about movement, it’s a way to tell stories, to express emotions when words fall short.”
Congratulations to the Class of 2025! Welcome to the alumni community!
