Workforce Seminar for High School Students

The EEF has teamed up with the San Diego Workforce Partnership to present a Connect2Careers workshop to prepare high schools students to enter the work world. Lessons learned will be helpful for college and career. The class is limited to 20 students.
March 26 and 27, 2019 from 10 am – 12 pm
This 2-day training includes training on the following.
BUILDING A RÉSUMÉ: Create a résumé using our mobile résumé lab.
THE WHY: Participants will learn ways to discover what their WHY is and complete activities that will give them a starting point to reaching their destination.
CREATING AN ELEVATOR PITCH: Participants will build a pitch that includes their passions, goals, and qualifications, then practice their pitch individually and in groups.
PREPARING FOR INTERVIEWS: Participants will learn strategies for interview success and engage in practice interviews with their peers.
ACE THE INTERVIEW: Participants will learn strategies for interview success such as: building a connection, questions to ask the interviewer, how to follow up with a thank you note and how to deal with feeling nervous.
IN-DEMAND JOBS: San Diego’s economy offers many engaging, fulfilling work opportunities many young people may not even know exist. During this workshop, we’ll share about San Diego’s fastest-growing industries and occupations and help participants learn what they can do now to qualify for those job opportunities in the future.
