San Diego Futures Foundation supplies high-quality refurbished computers for around $100.

COX Communications provides low-cost internet service for $9.95 per month.

COX Scholars Program

Cox Charities is accepting applications for the Cox Scholars program. Scholarships are available to graduating senior who lives in our San Diego County service area, are enrolling to a full-time two or four-year university within the U.S., and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The average scholarship ranges from $2,500 to $5,000, we will be awarding $80,000 total. Applications are due on February 1.

Cox Charities Scholarship Criteria:

• High school seniors in Southern California who live in a Cox service area
• Enrolling full-time at an accredited two or four-year university within the U.S.
• Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Active involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, or work experience
• Demonstrated financial need
• United States citizens or permanent resident

San Diego Workforce Partnership (SDWP)

SDWP Connect 2 Careers Program 

Employment in San Diego’s priority sectors—life sciences, technology, clean energy, healthcare and advanced manufacturing requires a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). C2C has made it a priority to develop pipelines for young adults to obtain the education and work experience necessary to enter and succeed in these sectors. C2C’s STEAM-related programming targets both students/young adults and education professionals. Young adult programs focus on job development, placement support, and business outreach, while education professional programming focuses on professional development for teachers and curriculum modification based on high-demand workplace skills.

Life Sciences Summer Institute (LSSI)

LSSI nourishes a passion for science and math in San Diego’s next generation of scientists. SDWP—in collaboration with BIOCOM and the Southern California Biotechnology Center (SCBC) at Miramar College—created LSSI in 2005 to strengthen science and math education in San Diego County and develop a future workforce for the region’s burgeoning life sciences industry. Today LSSI connects high school students with leading San Diego life sciences companies through paid internships.

San Diego Gas & Electric

SDG&E supports STEM K-12 teachers by matching donations for STEM projects posted to DonorsChoose.org. Teachers at schools in SDG&E’s service area are eligible to receive matching funds for STEM education projects of $1000 or less (up to a $500/$500 SDG&E match). SDG&E provides a double match (up to a $334/$667 SDG&E match) for eligible teacher projects at schools in disadvantaged communities as determined by checking the map here on CalEnviroScreen.
